Birmingham City to be backed by big following as Shrewsbury Town accept request

Birmingham City could be backed by more than 3,000 supporters for their EFL Trophy trip to the New Meadow later this month.
Blues had an initial allocation of 2,212 for their second group stage match of the campaign after drawing with Walsall at the start of September. A crowd of 9,752 witnessed the Saddlers win on penalties after Christoph Klarer cancelled out Charlie Lakin’s opener, and that was the highest attended match in the competition so far this season.

Hide AdBirmingham, who have yet to taste defeat in League One this season, have had good home attendances across the three competitions they are currently playing in, and now a request of more away tickets has been accepted by Shrewsbury. An additional 947 tickets have been given out, which will take them up 3,159.
A post from their ticketing account on Tuesday morning read: "The Club can confirm that we have received an additional allocation of 947 tickets for our Bristol Street Motors tie with Shrewsbury Town, bringing our total allocation to 3,159.
“Tickets are currently on sale to bronze members both online and via the ticket office.”
Birmingham play Shrewsbury on Tuesday, October 8 during the international break. The Shrews suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Fulham in their opening match, in front of a crowd of 1,206, and so there’s a possibility there could be more away supporters than home. Their final group stage match takes place on Tuesday, October 29, when Jay Stansfield faces his former club.

Birmingham's next away match is against Charlton Athletic, and those tickets were snapped up in quick time. The Club were handed a full allocation of 3,105 tickets, and they sold out last Thursday.
