Birmingham City player ratings vs Huddersfield Town: Hernandez shines as Blues suffer more injury woe

BirminghamWorld’s Ben Ramsdale delivers his player ratings from a frustrating afternoon at St Andrew’s

Birmingham City fell to their second successive Championship defeat as they lost 2-0 to high-flying Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

An unfortunate own-goal from Gary Gardner gave the visitors the lead before what can only be described as comical defending gifted the Terriers their second right before the half.

Gardner and Kristian Pedersen got in each other’s way which led to the former kicking the ball against a Huddersfield man and ricocheting it right into the path of Lewis O’Brien who prodded home one of the easiest goals of his career.

Blues also lost Lyle Taylor and Maxime Colin to injury on the day. Taylor pulled up in the warm-up whilst Colin went down with a no-contact injury early in the first-half.

As it has done all season at St Andrew’s - when it rains, it pours.
