Birmingham City’s fine form continued after Scott Hogan’s late goal earned John Eustace’s side a well deserved point at home to Burnley on Wednesday evening (19 October).
Blues came into the fixture following back-to-back wins against Bristol City and Hull, with Vincent Kompany’s side arriving in the West Midlands sitting top of the table as the Championship’s early pacesetters.
City defended well throughout the 90 minutes and frustrated Kompany’s men who struggled to create many clear cut chances. Although, despite a strong performance, it looked like Burnley had done enough to earn all three points after Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson’s stunning strike 15 minutes from time gave Burnley the lead.
But with 10 minutes to go, Blues rescued a point after George Hall’s low cross was turned home by Scott Hogan who grabbed his sixth goal of the campaign. City are now 14th in the league with just one defeat in their last eight fixtures, while Kompany’s men have dropped off the top of the table and into third place following the draw.
