Birmingham City are ‘one step away’ from completing their first real bit of summer business with Norwich City winger Przemysław Płacheta set to join the club on loan.

That’s according to Polish outlet Meczyki who claim St Andrew’s is the ‘most likely destination’ for the 24-year-old with a deal expected to be completed in the next week.

Płacheta, who joined the Canaries on a four-year deal in the summer of 2020, has solid experience in England’s top two tiers and will provide a much needed bit of quality to a Blues squad that is lacking in all areas.

As has become the norm for Lee Bowyer and his side in recent years, a loan deal with no option to buy at the end of it is said to be the deal but the most important thing right now is bodies through the door, regardless of how they come.

Meczyki also state Płacheta received great interest from Greek side AEK Athena though that is a move unlikely to happen with the Polish international opting to continue playing his trade in England.

All gone quiet over there...

Too quiet in fairness, though maybe that’s a good thing in regards to Blues’ prospective takeover.

Laurence Bassini’s deadline to complete the purchase of the club has been and gone and still nobody is none the wiser on the situation.

It’s possible that an extension could be put in place if both parties agree to such but extending deadlines when the club is due to fly out to Portugal on a pre-season tour next week seems ludicrous.

Maxi Lopez and Birmingham fan and businessman Paul Richardson both remain patiently waiting to jump in if Bassini’s deal is confirmed as incomplete but as of yet - nothing.

At the time of writing no definitive information has been given regarding the outcome but the players, management and more importantly fans need communication and answers and they need them today.
