Bristol City midfielder and former Birmingham City transfer target Kasey Palmer is said to be ‘almost certain’ to be leaving the Robins this summer.

That’s according to our colleagues at BristolWorld who also add that it could be a case of Palmer and Bristol coming to an agreement on a mutual termination of his contract, dependent on interest from other clubs.

The 25-year-old can play either side of midfield as well as down the middle behind the striker and fit the exact profile of the player Blues were looking at back in January.

It looked at one stage as though a deal would be struck but it never came to fruition with Lee Bowyer instead landing the signatures of Juninho Bacuna, Taylor Richards and Onel Hernandez.

With the latter two due back to their parent clubs in the summer, it could again free up the option for Blues to pursue Palmer, should they wish to do so.

He hasn’t featured at all for the Robins since he found himself with a place on the bench back in January and taking all things into consideration, the more likely scenario would appear to be pointing towards a termination of contract whether it be now or in a few months time.

Palmer, a former youth product of Chelsea, has made 134 appearances in the Championship, scoring 14 goals and providing 10 assists.

The 25-year-old will feel as though he has a lot to prove after being frozen out at Ashton Gate and that alone could make it a shrewd bit of business for whomever lands his signature next.
