Birmingham City will have an ever bigger following at Wembley than first thought.

Birmingham have announced their allocation for next month’s Vertu Trophy final against Peterborough United has been significantly increased.

Blues have been handed an additional 6,490 tickets following the club’s written request to the English Football League (EFL), taking the overall allocation to a huge 43,356. It’s set to be a monumental atmosphere on April 13 as Blues seek their first silverware since the 2011 League Cup triumph over Arsenal, also at Wembley.

Chris Davies’ side had originally been granted an allocation of 36,866 - including wheelchair and personal assistant seats - for the West End of Wembley, over 10,000 more than opponents Peterborough have been allowed in the East End. The gap between the two teams’ allocations is now around 17,000.

Those taking advantage of the extra tickets will be seated on Level 5 of Wembley, in blocks 522-527. Season ticket holders who have already purchased a ticket for the final and are interested in relocating to one of these new blocks can do so by contacting the Birmingham City Ticket Office on 0121 772 0101 (option 1) or in person at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.

The Vertu Trophy might not be anywhere the same calibre of competition as the League Cup but it’s a piece of silverware nonetheless – and one Davies’ men have been working extremely hard towards adding to the cabinet. Blues have played seven matches to reach the final of the competition, winning six and drawing one, losing on penalties against Walsall in the group stage.

Due to anticipated demand, the club recommends booking online as the easiest and most convenient method. It will take a matter of minutes. Additionally, purchasing a ticket online will give supporters the best chance to secure the seat they desire and avoid missing out, by waiting in queues over the phone or at the ticket office.
