Birmingham City manager John Eustace has provided an injury update on Marc Roberts and is hoping that the defender could be in contention for the trip to Rotherham United a week on Saturday.

Roberts was left out of the match-day squad on Tuesday evening as Blues held promotion favourites Watford to a 1-1 draw and Eustace expects that to be the case when Wigan Athletic come to St Andrew’s on Saturday, too.

He had a slight strain to the thigh,” the manager told BluesTV following the game.

“Hopefully won’t be too long, hopefully 7-10 days.

“He was obviously a miss tonight but Dion [Sanderson] stepped in, Maxi [Colin] was excellent on the right side of a three and so was [Auston] Trusty.

“Again, we’re asking players to step up to the plate, whoever we play, however old, however young, they are ready to fight for the club.”

Young Josh Williams came in at right-back for Roberts as Colin was moved more centrally and barely put a foot wrong.

It’s likely that the teenager will again get the nod from the start on Saturday when the Latics come to town.
