Birmingham City are preparing for their second season under John Eustace. He did a good job in helping some younger players make the step up into the first-team last term.

West Brom narrowly missed out on the play-offs and will be eyeing another push for the top six under Carlos Corberan. Here is a look at some of the latest transfer news and rumours regarding the pair...

Birmingham are being linked with a move for Vitesse midfielder Matus Bero ahead of the upcoming transfer window, as per TransfermarktNL (via Blues Focus). The 27-year-old, who is a Slovakia international with 26 caps under his belt to date, has been playing his football in the Eredivisie since 2018 and has since made 172 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 27 goals and 20 assists.

He started his career at AS Trencin and broke into their first-team as a youngster before Trabzonspor lured him away from his native country. Two years in Turkey then followed on for him prior to his switch to Holland and he hasn’t looked back since.

Target update

Jay Mingi, who has been linked with West Brom along with Charlton Athletic, is expected to leave with current side Portsmouth ‘ready’ to see him depart when his contract expires at the end of June, as reported by The News. A new three-year deal remains on the table for the midfielder to sign at Fratton Park but he is yet to do so after falling out of favour with the League One outfit under John Mousinho.

The door could now swing open for the Baggies and other suitors to swoop in and land him for nothing if Corberan is indeed interested in luring him to the Hawthorns. He would provide the Midlands club with another option to pick from in the middle of the park.
