Birmingham City have reportedly been joined by Schalke in their pursuit of Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Reda Khadra. The winger is currently on loan at Sheffield United but is facing an uncertain future at Bramall Lane.

According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon, the forward would be interested in a return to Germany this month. He is from Berlin and started his career there as a youngster before heading over to England back in 2020.

Khadra, 21, has emerged on Birmingham’s radar this winter as they eye up some more potential additions in this January transfer window. He has struggled to make an impact with the Blades this term and has scored just once in 15 games in all competitions.

Brighton signed him from Borussia Dortmund three years ago but he hasn’t been able to break into the Seagull’s first-team. He has also played for CFC Hertha 06 and Tennis Borussia Berlin in the past.

Khadra has played once for Brighton’s senior team in a Premier League clash against Manchester City but has mainly been used in their U23s. He was given the green light to spend the last campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers and fired five goals in 28 games for the Lancashire outfit before Sheffield United came calling.

Schalke are believed to be keen now which means Birmingham have fresh competition for his signature. The Bundesliga outfit have struggled so far this season and are bottom of the table.
