Birmingham City have confirmed that repair works to the lower Kop and Tilton stands will resume during the World Cup break in November and December this year.

Sections of St Andrew’s have also been shut for more than a year, with the club being forced to close the lower sections of the Kop and Tilton Road End due to structural issues.

The closure of the tiers has been a source of frustration for supporters, who have cited it as one of the reasons for the #BSHLOUT protests against the club’s current owners - Birmingham Sports Holdings Ltd.

The club has now confirmed that his the next phase of work will involve the removal of all pre-cast concrete units from both the Lower Tilton and Lower Kop stands to expose the areas underneath.

Once these units have been removed, the exposed areas will be covered, secured, and made safe to operate, in time for the club’s first fixture back on 17 December 2022. Blues then hope to complete the remaining stadium repairs immediately after the final home fixture of the season, during the summer break of 2023.

AFL Architects, who designed Lusail Stadium, Qatar’s World Cup final venue, will work in collaboration with the Club on the design aspect of the remedial works, whilst Ramboll will act as the Club’s structural & geotechnical engineers.
