Birmingham City have confirmed a deal with National League side Gateshead.

Blues have loaned promising midfielder Josh Home to Gateshead for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The 19-year-old will gain regular minutes at a senior level for the first time after racking up a combined 26 appearances for Birmingham’s under-18 and under-21 sides. It’s a homely return of sorts for the player - no pun intended - who began his career at Gateshead’s neighbours Newcastle United before joining Birmingham in 2021.

Reacting to his move, Home said: “I’m buzzing to be honest. I’ve been here for two weeks now, training with the group while things were getting sorted. “The main thing for me was the type of football that Gateshead play. It’s what every player wants to be involved in, keeping the ball on the floor and playing through the lines, so I’m over the moon.

“The type of player I am, I like to keep things ticking in the middle of the park, play forward when I can and get on the ball as much as I can, so obviously seeing the way Gateshead play drew me in.”
