Birmingham City have a fresh injury concern, John Eustace revealed after the 1-0 win against Leeds United.

John Eustace confirmed a fresh injury concern for Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon, bringing one sole dampener on the narrow 1-0 victory over Leeds United.

Blues impressed with resolute defending and passion throughout and were rewarded with a 91st-minute penalty, won by Ethan Laird.

Late substitute Lukas Jutkiewicz stepped up to convert from the spot, sending the St Andrew’s faithful into raptures.

Although Eustace was of course delighted with the result and performance, there was one unfortunate revelation to note in the post-match press conference.

As found out when the starting lineups were announced, summer signing Tyler Roberts was denied the opportunity to face his former club as he was left off the team sheet.

What everyone didn’t know, though, was the fact this was due to an injury picked up in training on Friday.

“Unfortunately Tyler limped out of training with a calf strain which is really disappointing,” Eustace said.

“He’ll be a big miss to us but it’s only hopefully three or four weeks. Tyler is a top player and we want him back quickly.”

Signed for well under £1 million at the start of July, Roberts is expected to play a key role for Birmingham this campaign.

Eustace hopes this injury will just be a small setback. In the meantime, fellow new faces Siriki Dembele, Keshi Anderson and Koji Miyoshi have the chance to impress up top.
