Birmingham City are a ‘Championship team in waiting’ according to a former West Brom and Wolves striker.
Don Goodman, a long-serving commentator for Sky Sports’ coverage of the EFL was impressed by the spectacle that Blues and Wrexham put on in September. Tom Brady, David Beckham, and Rob McElhenney were all in attendance to watch Birmingham come from a goal down to win 3-1 thanks to goals from Jay Stansfield and Tomoki Iwata.

Goodman, who spent a large part of his career playing for the Baggies, Wolves, and Walsall, believes Birmingham should be winning the league, and would be disappointed if they didn’t do so. He’s seen similarities in them from what he saw in Ipswich Town who went on to win back-to-back promotions, and believes Birmingham should shatter League One records, by breaking in to the 100 points barrier.
Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Goodman said: “In Birmingham's case, it would be a massive underperformance if they didn't win the division. They've just won seven in a row and came from behind against both Peterborough and Wrexham.
“I've got no doubts that Birmingham City are a Championship team in waiting like Ipswich were, but I'm not saying they'll win consecutive promotions. For me, I'd be disappointed if Birmingham City don't get 100 points and break some League One records.”

Hide AdGoodman's comments come after Krystian Bielik believes that the club are 'too good for League One' and will be a Championship team again at the end of the season. He was aware of which division they were playing in, but admitted that the entire squad was of the quality of the Championship.
"We're League One but I don't think there are any players in this team who are League One players," the Polish defender said to the BBC.
"All of them are at a higher level. In six months time we'll be a Championship team and a different animal.
"We stay humble and keep our feet on the ground and we don't want to choke on it. But the reality is we're too good for League One."
