Birmingham City confirm another senior exit as links for Reading defender grow

Birmingham City have confirmed that Spanish winger Ivan Sanchez has left the club on a permanent basis.

Sanchez, who made 44 appearances for Blues over a two-year spell, will join La Liga side Real Valladolid on for an undisclosed fee, effective Friday July 1.

The 29-year-old became an instant hit with bluenoses when he joined from Elche in 2020 but after a struggle with niggling injuries towards the end of that season and the beginning of the 21/22 campaign, soon fell out of favour.

He leaves the club having scored two goals and provided eight assists in 44 appearances.

Terrell Thomas links grow

Elsewhere and Reading u23s defender Terrell Thomas continues to be touted with a move to St Andrew’s.

According to teamtalk, the 26-year-old is firmly on the radar of Blues and it’s one that could have legs considering the links go all the way back to the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old is coming to the end of a short-term six-month contract at the Madejski Stadium and is attracting the interest of a number of Championship clubs and top end League One sides.

Thomas made just two senior appearances for Reading, the final two games of the season, both of which they lost 1-0.
