Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer has hinted at another possible arrival at St Andrew’s ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Blues have been incredibly busy in this window, adding Teden Mengi, Onel Hernandez, Taylor Richards and Lyle Taylor on loan whilst also announcing the permanent addition of Juninho Bacuna from Rangers on Thursday.

It was thought that business may be done after Thursday’s double reveal but Bowyer says that Christmas may come early (or late) and he may be allowed one more.

Smirking, the manager said “hopefully Father Christmas will come early and drop another one, you never know.”

There have been rumours of a bid for Peterborough United’s Siriki Dembele but when pushed on the matter, the boss claims if another addition is made, it would most likely be one for the back.

“Probably a centre-half, just as a bit of cover,” he explained.

“Sometimes when we do play three, at the moment we’ve got George [Friend] as cover which is good but I think we’d need another one because if you lose two, one suspended and one injured then that’s it.

“I think that’s the position we could do with cover.

“There’s a couple of other positions but if I was to pick one I’d probaby lean towards that.

“Yeah, our loans are done now.”
