Birmingham City and West Brom's Championship rivals set to lose manager amid 'crunch talks'

One Championship manager is set to walk away from his role after a disappointing season so far.

One of Birmingham City and West Brom's Championship rivals could lose their manager this week. A number of clubs have already moved on from managers this season, and some, like Huddersfield Town, have done it twice.

The second tier is a bruising league where managers young and old can easily struggle, and success one year is never guaranteed for the next. That's a trap Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has fallen into after taking Rovers to within a whisker of the playoffs last season, finishing seventh.

This season has been very different, with Blackburn now as low as 18th place, just five points above the bottom three. Rovers lost to relegation rivals QPR last week, and they are just five days away from facing Blues in the Championship.

Ahead of that clash, and indeed their clash with Stoke City this weekend, it's expected that Tomasson will leave his role at Ewood Park. The Danish boss was set for talks with the club this week, and the Lancashire Telegraph report that Tomasson is likely to move on before this weekend.

Who Blackburn will turn to remains to be seen, but they are going to have to choose carefully given the club's current proximity to the bottom three. City will also be watching carefully given they are just one position and one point behind Rovers in the Championship table.
