Whether you were at Wembley or watching from afar, I bet you can remember exactly where you were when that Obafemi Martins strike hit the back of the net in 2011.

It’s been 12 years since Birmingham City’s incredible cup triumph and for how frustrating much of the last decade has followed has been, nothing can take that moment away from fans of the Blues.

It was a huge day in the club’s history, but with the threat of relegation still on the cards this season, we’ve decided to take a look back at another historic and slightly more pertinent fixture of the club’s recent past.

With more off pitch turmoil and financial worries, John Eustace’s men are currently six points above the Championship relegation zone, and it looks like it could be another nervy finish to the Championship season as the club hope to avoid the drop once again.

With this in mind, we’ve taken a look back at that game in Bolton in 2014 to give the fans some inspiration as we enter the final months of the 2022/23 campaign.

This one, of course as you’ll remember, took place on May 3, 2014.

Paul Caddis’ 93rd-minute equaliser for Blues helped Birmingham escape relegation to League One in dramatic style.

Blues needed a draw at Bolton to stay up but looked doomed when they trailed 2-0 to goals by Lee Chung-yong and current St Andrew’s favourite Lukas Jutkiewicz.

However, Nikola Zigic gave Lee Clark’s side hope when he pulled a goal back with a header with 12 minutes to go before Caddis headed home following a desperate goalmouth scramble to send Doncaster Rovers down instead.

The goal sent the away end at the Reebok into raptures in what was the most dramatic comeback in the club’s history as Lee Clark’s men somehow avoided the drop.
