Birmingham’s newly-bolstered squad depth is being tested to the limits with several key players unavailable through injury and fitness troubles.
Record signing Jay Stansfield and captain Krystian Bielik were both sidelined for Blues’ 3-1 win away at Lincoln City on Saturday, while Carabao Cup brace-scoring hero Scott Wright was also sidelined. There was a new blow for Emil Hansson, too, as the Swede limped off at Kassam Stadium.

“We’re a little bit down to our bare bones,” Davies told Birmingham Live. “Scott and Jay are day by day, they aren’t too serious so we’ll have to see how they pull up. Emil felt something there so again we will see how he responds because he had a good performance.”
Several players can be considered doubts for Tuesday’s hosting of Bolton at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, then, which is a great shame. The silver lining is the fact most of the injuries aren’t serious but rather minor bumps along the road.
Out: Krystian Bielik, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Alfie Chang, Luke Harris and Lee Buchanan. Doubts: Jay Stansfield, Scott Wright and Emil Hansson.

Hide AdBolton team news before Birmingham clash
Bolton are in better shape than Blues but could still be without a trio of players. Captain George Thomason is a major doubt after sustaining a hamstring injury during a training session last Friday. Defender Eoin Toal and goalkeeper Nathan Baxter are yet to receive the go-ahead either, as both players missed Saturday’s 2-1 win over Burton Albion.
“We’re hoping for a clean bill of health but we won’t really know until Monday morning,” Whites assistant manager Stephen Crainey told The Bolton News. “Regardless, we go to Birmingham and need to put on a good performance. I think George (Thomason) is his hamstring but in terms of length of time, I am not too sure, we need to wait on the medical team.
“And then it’s up to Nathan and the medical team again, sometimes players are on the grass, then they are not, so we just wait until we’re told they are fully fit. Until we’re told otherwise, we’ll be going with the squad we have got,” Crainey continued.
Doubts: George Thomason, Eoin Toal and Nathan Baxter.
