The January transfer window isn't too far away now, but we've still got a little over a month until it opens.
Birmingham City will look to use it to help put across Wayne Rooney's plans. He's got a particular way of playing, and you'd expect the former Man United star to wheel and deal by letting a few players go, and bringing in players he thinks
He's still without a win since taking over from John Eustace in controversial circumstances, but at Rooney's unveiling CEO Garry Cook said that he'd be backed within reason in the transfer market. Technical director Craig Gardner plays a big role in transfer discussions, so it'll be interesting what he and Rooney come up with come January.
In the mean time, there's still several players without a club, and are still free agents. Some of Rooney's former United teammates are on the market, and whilst they may have been ambitious before he was appointed, his stature in the game could be a big pull in attracting players to signing for Blues.
A free agent is a cost effective way of signing someone who isn't attached to a club and won't command a fee. The drawback however is that if they're still without a club when we're three months into the season then their match-fitness might not be the greatest, and it might take them a bit of time to get up to speed with the demands of the Championship.
Flick through to see a list of players who could be considered as signings for Birmingham City. Are any of these of interest to you, or do you expect money to be exchanged for players when the window opens?
