Birmingham City deadline day transfer state of play: Done deals, latest rumours and net spend detailed

Birmingham City have had somewhat of a frantic start to 2024 but things are beginning to calm down.

Blues started the month and the year with Wayne Rooney in charge but after a defeat to Leeds United, he was relieved of his duties. Steve Spooner oversaw proceedings against Hull City and then Tony Mowbray was appointed on a permanent basis. There's a good feeling around the place now and a dark cloud has been lifted with fans more optimistic from the campaign. A defeat to Leicester City in the FA Cup happened last time out, but they go in to their West Midlands Derby with West Brom full of confidence.

The story of the window so far has probably been Jordan James, who has been subject of strong interest from Italy. Bids have been lodged for the Wales international but so far no one has met the £10m asking price. Several Premier League clubs have been linked but it's been somewhat of a quiet month in terms of transfers, with plenty of clubs wanting to avoid any Financial Fair Play sanctions after seeing what happened to Everton.

Mowbray has been given the chance to bring in some of his own targets, and Paik Seung-ho is an exciting addition. He joined on a free transfer after leaving Jeonbuk Motors, and will bring an added dimension to the midfield. No money has been exchanged for Birmingham's signings this month, and they've not received a transfer fee either.

• Alex Pritchard - More or less a done deal. Completed his medica and joining from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee
• Mateusz Musialowski - Liverpool midfielder linked last week with a move along with Leeds United. Reports in Poland said he's pursuing a move outside of England.
• Manuel Benson - Burnley winger linked with Blues as well as Hull City, Ipswich Town, Southampton and Leeds United.

• Sam Tickle - Wigan Athletic goalkeeper has been linked by EFL journalist Alan Nixon. Preston North End also linked. Daily Mail says that Tony Mowbray wants a new goalkeeper before the deadline.
