Wolves vs Aston Villa: Paul Merson predicts winner and gives key reason

Former Aston Villa midfielder Paul Merson has predicted the winner of this weekend’s West Midlands derby between his former club and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Steven Gerrard’s Villa side will make the short trip to Molineux tomorrow 2 (April) to take on Bruno Lage’s men with much still to play for this season.

Wolves are still chasing European football and will be looking to bounce back from their last minute 3-2 home defeat to Leeds before the international break.

Villa will also be looking to finish the season strongly and secure a top 10 finish after some impressive results in recent months.

Merson’s prediction

In his prediction column for Sportskeeda, Merson has gone for a 2-1 win for Villa.

He wrote: “Aston Villa have turned a corner - the result against Arsenal was a wake-up call for them.

“Ollie Watkins will be on a bit of a high after scoring for England, so I think Villa could win this one.

“As for Wolves, with Raul Jimenez suspended, I think they’ll struggle in front of goal.”

Wolves vs Aston Villa takes place at Wolves’ home of Molineux on Saturday April 2.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 (BST).

Is Wolves vs Aston Villa on TV?

No. Sadly for everyone, the game won’t be televised due to the 3PM black-out of fixtures in the UK.
