Aston Villa’s 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening marked the fourth successive defeat for the claret and blue under Steven Gerrard.
It was five losses in a row between October and November that saw previous boss Dean Smith lose his job and whilst nobody is expecting that outcome with Gerrard, it has been an alarming last few weeks.
Nine goals have been shipped whilst only two have been scored - one a last minute consolation versus West Ham United and the other a penalty in the derby day defeat to Wolves.
Social media isn’t always the best place to gauge fan opinion, especially after a defeat, but it’s clear that some aren’t all that convinced that the new man has been much of an improvement on boyhood Villan Smith who was given his marching orders before Christmas.
You can’t argue with the stats, though, so we’ve looked at just how the Premier League table would look if it was based only on Steven Gerrard’s games in charge.
Despite the recent poor form, there’s still a definite upgrade across the 20 games the scouser has been in the dugout.
