West Ham United ‘agree deal’ for Aston Villa striker Danny Ings

Ings is on the brink of a move away from Villa Park

West Ham United have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Aston Villa striker Danny Ings.

According to Sky Sport News, the Hammers will pay Villa around £15 million for the former Southampton forward.

Ings, 31, has fallen out of favour under Villa boss Unai Emery, with Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins having been preferred over Ings in the Villa starting eleven in recent weeks.

Ings has scored six Premier League goals in 18 games this season, and will join the east London club with David Moyes’ side currently 18th in the Premier League table.

Earlier this month Villa boss Emery had appeared to dismiss the idea of Ings leaving the club.

He said: “Danny is a very good player. He played in the first eleven against Brighton and he scored two goals. He usually has a very good impact. Today we needed him and he helped the team. I am so happy with his commitment and performance.

“I spoke to some players about the possibility of leaving but not with him. I didn’t speak to Danny about it. The idea is to keep him in the squad. I don’t know [if there has been an offer from Everton or anyone else]. The club has not told me anything.”
