West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa fans have joined together (not a sentence you can expect often) to deliver some thoughts and ramblings on the January transfer window.

Albion fan Jonathan Wimbush sat down with Villa supporter Jack Spedding and fellow football fans Liam Brusby and Andrew Nealen to discuss their club’s respective dealings and potential incomings for the remainder of the winter window.

Whilst the Baggies have moved early to secure the services of American forward Daryl Dike, Villa are yet to make a move, though that is expected to change imminently.

Supporters of both clubs are demanding signings in January for their own respective reasons.

West Brom, desperate for an instant return to the Premier League are in need of reinforcements if they are to make that dream a reality and Villa, under new manager Steven Gerrard have European ambitions and they aren’t going to achieve that without serious backing.

In the attached video, Wimbush and Spedding give their opinion on the opening week.

“From our perspective we’ve signed American striker Daryl Dike,” explained the Baggies fan.

“We’ve signed him from Orlando City of the MLS.

“I reckon he’s going to do well for us.

“We needed a striker and our first signing of the window is a striker.

“That’s showing intent.”

It’s a signing that has excited many over Albion way but more will be expected as the window progresses.

Villa on the other hand have of course recently been linked with a certain Brazilian in the last 24 hours and whilst this discussion was filmed in the hours leading up to the Philippe Coutinho news - it alludes to other areas Steven Gerrard will be looking at addressing.

“We’re apparently looking to replace Matt Targett,” Spedding said.

“We want a new left-back.

“We also want some cover for centre-back as Axel Tuanzebe has now left. He’s gone back as he wasn’t playing enough.

“Our third choice centre-back is Kortney Hause which is no good so we need a new centre-back.

“We need a new left-back because Matt Targett is getting found out now he hasn’t got Jack Grealish in front of him.

“We also desperately need a holding midfielder because Marvelous Nakamba who was just finding form is now out until near the end of the season.

“I’ve heard Joe Gomez has been linked with us which would be quite something but we don’t really need another injury prone player in our squad. We already seem to have quite a few of those.”

The beauty of football is that fans all have their own respective opinions.
