Unai Emery takes on Arsenal, Man City and Brighton bosses for top prize

The Premier League has announced the nominees for the Manager of the Month for March, with Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery among those listed. The prestigious award, which is handed out at the end of every calendar month throughout the season, was last won by a Villa head coach in December 2020.

Dean Smith landed the accolade after masterminding a five-game unbeaten run, including wins of Everton, Burnley and Manchester United. Eight goals were scored and just one was conceded in five matches, making for a fun end to 2020 for Villa supporters up and down the country.

Now, just over two years on, Emery has the opportunity to scoop the prize having enjoyed an unbeaten streak of his own. With wins over Everton and AFC Bournemouth, as well as a draw at West Ham United, The Villans kept tabs on the Premier League top half. Emery has lots of competition for the award, however, with other managers impressing.
