Aston Villa are in Dubai as they step up preparations for the return of Premier League season.

We are less than three weeks away from the return of club football, and Villa will want to pick up where they left off after a resurgence under new boss Unai Emery before the break. We still have plenty of the World Cup still to play, but a few hours away in Dubai, Villa will be training in 30 degree temperatures, while also taking on Chelsea on December 11.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Villa Park.

Nacho request

Villa have been linked with a move for Real Madrid star Nacho Fernandez in recent days, and some more details have now emerged.

It was claimed earlier this week that Villa are chasing the Los Blancos veteran, who could add strength and experience to the Lions back line. And Fichajes have now added that Emery has specifically asked the Villa board to go out and get Nacho.

Nacho is out of contract at the end of this season, and he has reportedly been offered another year, but Villa may be able to convimce him by offering more years, with a more secure contract.

Cunha update

Villa have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid star Matheus Cunha, but it seems they are not at the front of the queue.

According to the Daily Express, it is Wolves who are close to striking a deal for Cunha, who wants more regular football after a heartbreaking omission from Brazil’s World Cup squad. Cunha has been with Atletico since 2021, scoring six times in 41 La Liga appearances.

Atletico could now cash in, and Villa are said to be on course to miss out to local rivals Wolves.
