Aston Villa picked up two fresh injuries during the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool.

Unai Emery has admitted both Jacob Ramsey and Boubacar Kamara will be assessed after feeling muscular tweaks at Anfield.

Ramsey was forced off just before half time on Saturday night after receiving treatment on his hamstring, while Kamara appeared to pick up a strain late in the game but carried on. It’s hoped neither injury is serious but the necessary precautions will be taken nonetheless.

When asked in the post-match press conference to confirm what Cash’s issue was, Emery said: “Hamstring. He was feeling something. Kamara as well he felt something on a run back he did.

“Of course, we are playing a lot of matches. But they are always at risk of injuries, we have to accept it. They are injured now Ramsey, hopefully not Kamara. They are coming back for the next match, hopefully also [Matty] Cash and Ross Barkley,” Emery added.

Villa aren’t strangers to dealing with injuries as several first-team regulars spent much of last campaign on the sidelines. There was a brief period recently - before the Bournemouth game - when Emery had a fully-fit squad to choose from but that has since been scaled back.

The good news is the upcoming international break will provide the likes of Ramsey, Kamara, Cash and Barkley to shake off their respective injuries and return to fitness. It’s been a busy run of fixtures of late, so the brief break should offer some reprieve to those on the treatment table.

Villa’s next outing is in two week’s time, at home to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
