The Italy Under-21 international, heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur over recent days, is considered one of the best young full-backs in Europe.

Italian broadcaster Sportitalia reports Villa have made their first approach to Fiorentina to sign Kayode, offering €15 million (£12.7 million) plus bonuses. The offer is expected to be turned down but it’s claimed Fiorentina would consider a base fee of €20 million (£16.9 million) plus add-ons.

Villa’s president of football operations, Monchi, is said to be a great admirer of Kayode. There’s a strong determination to get a deal done but competition is fierce, with Tottenham preparing a bid of their own according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Who is Villa target Michael Kayode?

Kayode, signed from Italian fourth-tier outfit ASDC Gozzano in 2021, recently enjoyed an excellent breakthrough campaign as he played 37 times for Fiorentina. The 19-year-old’s impressive appearances spread across the Europa Conference League, Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.

Predominantly a right-back but also capable of playing at right midfield, left-back or left midfield, the teenager would offer Villa terrific versatility if signed. Unai Emery loves players who can be utilised in several roles, particularly those with the athleticism and pace Kayode possesses in abundance.
