Aston Villa talent Liverpool previously lodged bid for now 'allowed to leave'

The latest Premier League transfer news as an Aston Villa striker Liverpool once bid for is tipped to depart.

Aston Villa will reportedly consider the sale of Jhon Duran this January as a result of alleged friction between the striker and head coach Unai Emery. The Colombian, who joined from Chicago Fire at the start of 2023, was the subject of a bid from Liverpool last winter.

The Telegraph reports interest is growing in Duran, whom Villa would let go either on a permanent or temporary basis due to the tension between player and manager. It awaits to be seen if Liverpool would rear their head again following previous long-standing intrigue but a move could well come to fruition if they did.

Duran, who has played 33 times since signing for the Villans in a £15 million deal, only has four goals to his name. Many of those appearances have been off the bench, too, as the 20-year-old has failed to work his way into the starting XI often under Emery.

The Telegraph adds Villa want to sign a new forward and a right-back, to provide competition for Matty Cash and support for Ollie Watkins. RB Leipzig attacker Yannick Eduardo has been touted as a potential option, while Nico Williams, another Liverpool wanted, is no longer available after signing a new contract with Athletic Bilbao.
