Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has made a definitive early summer transfer window prediction, with Aston Villa set for disappointment in pursuit of Jaden Philogene.

The 22-year-old winger, sold to the Tigers by Villa on September 1 last year, has scored eight goals and notched six assists in 23 Sky Bet Championship appearances this season. Bought for merely £5 million, the attacker has been a bargain but the Villans have first refusal over re-signing him.

If Hull are promoted to the Premier League, Villa can buy Philogene back for a fixed fee of £15 million. The Tigers are currently seventh in the second tier but a game in hand can move them level on points with sixth-placed Norwich City. It's still possible, albeit tricky.

But even if Hull do achieve promotion, owner Ilicali is confident an agreement can be reached to ensure Philogene doesn't return to Villa Park. "We don't have any fear about Philogene getting bought back by Aston Villa," Ilicali told the Mirror.

"The buy-back option is only available if we get promoted. If Jaden wants to play with us and he doesn't want to go to Villa, with the good relationship with the club we will ask for their permission to keep him.

"I believe that every player should be where they are happy. If Jaden's decision is to stay with Hull City if we go to the Premier League, then I'm confident Aston Villa will not make us disappointed," Ilicali continued.
