It was reported early on Monday morning by The Athletic that Newcastle had made contact with Villa over a potential move for Ramsey but Howe has ruled it out.

"That's incorrect," Howe told Sky Sports in a blunt response to the Ramsey rumour. "What we won't do is bring a player in without losing one the other way. It would be possible," Howe continued.

It was claimed Newcastle were considering signing Ramsey, albeit once sales had been completed. Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on the 22-year-old.

Ramsey has spent much of this season troubled by injury and as a result hasn’t fully gotten up to speed again, but he managed six goals and seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances last term.
