The latest transfer news updates from the Premier League as Aston Villa make contact for a Leeds United forward wanted by Everton.

Aston Villa have reportedly made their first approach to Leeds United for wonderkid winger Wilfried Gnonto ahead of a potential transfer swoop.

The 19-year-old only scored twice in 24 Premier League appearances last term, but he caught the eye of many a supporter up and down the country for his tricky footwork and directness.

Villa fans will know this all to well, as many may remember the fiercely contested battle between Ashley Young and Gnonto during the 2-1 win over Leeds in January.

At times, Young used his experience brilliantly to win back possession and keep Gnonto’s threat to a minimum. At others, the forward was able to run Young ragged and get beyond.

His potential was clear to see throughout much of the season and it might not be long until Unai Emery can get to work at unlocking more of Gnonto’s talent at Villa Park, according to a report.

Sportitalia claims Gnonto will definitely “say goodbye to Leeds” this summer, with a price tag of €25 million (£21.5 million) set out by the Whites.

The report states Everton and Villa are two of just three teams to have made an official approach, while Bundesliga outfit Freiburg are the other.

Already a full senior Italy international with 11 appearances, Gnonto can play anywhere across the front line, making him a brilliant option to have in attack.

His best attributes are his pace, dribbling, ball control and long shots, whereas his weaknesses are his discipline and crossing. Gnonto could be one to watch.
