Aston Villa are reportedly considering keeping wonderkid midfielder Tim Iroegbunam at the club this summer amid interest from Queens Park Rangers.

The 20-year-old, who enjoyed a successful spell at QPR last season, is wanted for a Loftus Road reunion as manager Gareth Ainsworth is keen on giving him a key role.

Having not been included in the Villa squad for the Premier League Summer Series in the USA, many would assume Iroegbunam would once again be available for a loan move.

But West London Sport claims that when QPR asked about the midfielder’s availability, they were told he may still be kept at Villa Park beyond the transfer deadline.

It’s also reported that other clubs are in the race and making things difficult for the Rs to bring Iroegbunam back for a second campaign. This could spell trouble as he was vital.

With two goals in 32 Championship appearances last term, Iroegbunam didn’t have too many attacking involvements but it was his stability and maturity in midfield that impressed.

Unai Emery will have to make a decision sharpish as to whether he will be able to utilise the youngster enough or if another temporary switch away is a better solution.
