Aston Villa have completed the Deadline Day signing of Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan deal, subject to a successful visa application.
The central defender, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, returns to the Premier League to fill the void left by an injured Tyrone Mings.
Lenglet, who has 15 senior France caps to his name, played 26 times in the English top tier last term and featured seven times for Spurs in the UEFA Champions League.
Signed by Barcelona from Sevilla in 2018 for a fee in the region of £30 million, the now 28-year-old has played 160 times for the Catalan giants in all competitions, scoring seven goals.
Lenglet’s acquisition, which will cost just 75 per cent of his Barça salary, could be vital for the Villans as extra depth in defence will be needed for the upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League campaign.
The draw for the UECL group stage will take place at 1.30pm on Deadline Day.
