This is where Aston Villa sit in the Premier League table - based ONLY on Steven Gerrard’s games in charge

It’s been a turbulent few months for Gerrard at Villa Park but here’s what the bigger picture shows...

It all started off so rosy back when Steven Gerrard took over from Dean Smith as Head Coach of Aston Villa back in November.

Three wins in five with the two losses only coming by the slimmest of margins to title challengers’ Manchester City & Liverpool.

This Villa squad were finally showing what they were all about and optimism was through the roof.

Add to that the January transfer window which saw Gerrard lure star-studded names to the west midlands like Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona and Lucas Digne from Everton and it was a team only going one way.

Form has tailed off in recent weeks though. That fast, aggressive, pressing football we saw early in the scouser’s tenure has subsided and results are once again proving hard to come by.

Villa currently sit 12th in the Premier League table on 27 points and whilst it’s not disastrous, fans are expecting better, especially after the amount of investment that has been put in over the last 12 months or so.

But what you have to remember is that the claret & blue were 15th when the former Liverpool captain took charge so where would they be now had he had the reins from day one?

Whilst that is a question that we will never know the answer to, here’s how the Premier League table would look if the season started from Gerrard’s arrival at Villa Park.
