The Aston Villa team that could take part in the returning Masters Football tournament

Masters Football is returning to our screens in 2023

2022 is off to an absolute flyer and not just because of the horrific winds that have been hammering the UK and Ireland over the past few weeks.

The legendary football competition that is Masters Football is returning to our screens and we’re absolutely buzzing about it.

For those unaware, Masters Football ran in the summer following the end of a season and made those breaks without the beautiful game so much easier to endure.

It was an indoor six-a-side tournament that took place once a year between 2000-2011 and featured players aged 35 and over, usually those that had already retired from the game.

And now the sports documentary streaming service, ‘360 Sports TV’ are bringing it back with plans already in place to get underway in 2023.

Whilst the teams are not yet confirmed, if they are to continue along the same pattern of old, both Aston Villa and Birmingham City were regular attendees and could see a return to the action.

Villa last suited up in 2010 and were captained by Ian Taylor whilst the late Ugo Ehiogu was also part of the team.

Between eight and 10 players were on each side whilst roll-on, roll-off substitutions were allowed throughout.

If Villa are back in action in 2023, here’s the men we’d love to see take part!
