Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard reveals favourite TV series, band, and most hostile ground

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has opened up on what annoys him the most on the training pitch, and revealed the most hostile atmospheres he has ever played in.

The former Liverpool captain also revealed his favourite television series and band while answering 32 quickfire questions from Gary Neville in the latest edition of The Overlap Xtra on YouTube.

Here’s what Gerrard said.

Favourite television programe

Speaking to Neville, Gerrard said: “The Office” (UK version). I love it, I’m still watching it now, I go back and watch it when I’m in a bad mood or when I need to take my mind off results - I go right to The Office, Brent to cheer me up.

“I’m a huge fan (of Ricky Gervais), would love to meet him if I ever got the opportunity.”

Favourite band

Gerrard said: “Coldplay. I’ve been to see them live twice, and I got invited to a bit of a secret gig they did in Liverpool for charity - 1,000 people and it was out of this world, an acoustic version set.”

What annoys him the most?

“People being late,” Gerrard said.

“I let the players dominate the majority of the fines. I think it’s important that they run their own dressing room, I don’t want to be one of these managers who’s fining people left right and centre.

“I think your preparation and what you put in should be on the money I think where the games at, It was always something that I used to make a priority for myself that you were on time all the time.”

Most hostile ground

Asked about the most hostile atmosphere he’s ever played in, the former Rangers boss said to Neville: “Goodison Park and Old Trafford were certainly up there because I was a target, which was fine.

“I played away at Besiktas once, and you might have played in one of the games when we played Turkey at one of the stadiums - probaly those two.”
