Southampton set to put to bed Aston Villa links as they enter ‘in negotiations’ to sign Rangers star

Southampton are set to put to bed another Aston Villa transfer link as they enter ‘in negotiations’ with Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo.

That’s according to the Athletic who claim that the 25-year-old is keen on a move to the south coast, however, the Gers won’t accept anything below £10million.

Aribo has a £10million release clause in his current contract and any team that meets that will land the signature of the Nigerian.

One other club are currently in contact with the SPL side over a move for the versatile midfield man though that isn’t believed to be Aston Villa.

Villa were heavily linked with a number of Rangers stars following Steven Gerrard’s appointment last season but nothing has yet come to fruition with any of those.

The Saints are said to be confident about landing a deal for Aribo and if so, will finally put to bed the claret and blue’s links.
