Aston Villa in four-team race to sign Leon Bailey's Jamaican international teammate


Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Jamaica centre-back Richard King, but face competition from three of their Premier League rivals.
According to HITC, Villa are waiting the centre-back, along with Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United, but West Ham lead the race.

Hide AdKing has been capped 19-times by the Jamaican national team, having made his debut two years ago. He is currently plying his trade in the Jamaican Premier League with 20324/24 champions Cavalier FC, but with interest shown in the defender, he like a few other players, could leave the Caribbean and play in the most recognised league in world football.
Standing at six foot and two inches, King is 22-years-old, and has played in Europe before having played for Icelandic side IBV Vestmannaeyjar. He's played a total of four games with Bailey, but there is also West Ham’s Michail Antonio could also persuade him to move to London instead of Birmingham.
Bailey isn't in the Jamaica squad right now, as he serves a suspension which was placed on him by the Jamaican FA. The forward was included in the Reggae Boyz' squad for the 2024 Copa America, despite his comments in March saying he would take a break from the national team.
Jamaica appointed former Derby County, Middlesbrough and England national national team boss Steve McClaren as their manager. Without Bailey, they drew to the ten men of Cuba in the Concafcaf Nations League, before defeating Honduras in September.
