QPR make ‘official approach’ for Aston Villa assistant manager Michael Beale - Who else is in the frame?

Beale has been a vital part to Gerrard’s success in his early management career

Championship side QPR have made an ‘official approach’ for Aston Villa’s assistant manager Michael Beale as their hunt for a new head coach goes on.

That’s according to the Telegraph who add that nothing has yet been agreed between Beale and the West London team though it is looking more and more likely that he will be the man to replace Mark Waburton in the dugout at Loftus Road.

His departure would be a big blow for Villa in what is otherwise looking an incredibly exciting summer but Steven Gerrard has said on more than one occasion that he would never stand in anyone’s way if they are looking to progress in their career - player or coach.

Beale has often been called the brains behind it all during his time with Gerrard so it would no doubt come as a disappointing loss for the claret and blue.

Former Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty hailed him as the most ‘devoted’ person to football he has ever seen whilst ex-striker Peter Lovenkrands said: “what he does with the players on the pitch is phenomenal.”

Nothing is done and dusted yet but the Hoops appear to be closing in and the odds reflect that too.

Here’s how it’s shaping up as of Friday morning (27th May).
