Away from the field, Steven Gerrard still has some work to do in the transfer market ahead of the new Premier League campaign kicking off next month.
A new striker could be the priority for the Liverpool icon before their season opener against Bournemouth and one player who has been linked would apparently be open to a move, according to a prominent football journalist.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was interviewed by FootballFanCast.com, Espanyol striker Raul de Tomas would be open to a move to Aston Villa this summer.

O’Rourke pointed to the signings that Villa have already made this summer, claiming that seeing big names likePhilippe Coutinho, Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara give them “clout” when trying to attract players like de Tomas.
He told Football Fan Cast: “Villa have had success in the transfer window in the last couple, bringing in Coutinho and then bringing in Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara already this summer as well.
“So they have got the clout to go out there and sign the best players in Europe. And I’m sure that De Tomas would give serious thought to joining Villa if an offer was made for his services.”
Aston Villa could face competition to sign de Tomas with other Premier League clubs like Newcastle United, West Ham United and Eveton having also been linked this summer.
