Aston Villa have made a brilliant start to the new season, entering the top five of the Premier League and earning three points from six in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The October international break has given supporters the chance to reflect on the campaign so far. There’s also been time to ponder the players who’ve impressed the most and least.
Unai Emery’s side are doing a terrific job but there have been some inconsistencies throughout the squad – both in performances and energy levels – so action could be taken in January.
From players who haven’t had enough game time to those who’ve struggled or shone, here are eight who could leave and five who definitely won’t.

1. Calum Chambers - could leave
Has really struggled when called upon so far this season. Also hasn’t had much game time, so that’s a reason for all parties to agree on a departure. | Getty Images

2. Leander Dendoncker - could leave
Similarly to Chambers, the Belgian hasn’t been able to nail down a spot at all this term and could be moved on to fund a replacement. | Getty Images

3. Tim Iroegbunam - could leave
Only just getting back to fitness, hence he hasn’t played, but could head out on another loan this winter due to the immense competition in Villa’s midfield. | Getty Images

4. Kortney Hause - could leave
The forgotten man, Hause is still contracted to Villa but is completely out of the fray having not been registered. Makes sense to depart soon. | Getty Images
