On a weekend where defences shined and attacks faltered, the latest round of Premier League fixtures saw six teams keep clean sheets as some huge results at both ends of the table unfolded.
The title race all but came to an end on Sunday as Arsenal were defeated 3-0 on home soil by a brilliant Brighton & Hove Albion. Manchester City did their job on Saturday, comfortably beating Everton by the same scoreline.
There were an array of 2-0 victories across the division as Manchester United saw off Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace won against AFC Bournemouth, Fulham relegated Southampton, and Brentford got one over West Ham United.
It was a thrilling 2-2 draw between Leeds United and Newcastle United that kicked the weekend off and Chelsea were then matched by Nottingham Forest with another 2-2, this time at Stamford Bridge.
But perhaps the most important result of the round - bar Brighton ending Arsenal’s title hopes - was Aston Villa beating Tottenham Hotspur by two goals to one to keep their European dreams well and truly alive.
So many players impressed this weekend that it would be difficult to pick just 11 players, but thankfully WhoScored’s rating system makes it easier for us. With that in mind, here’s the team of the week for the round of fixtures played on May 13 and 14, as Brighton, Newcastle and Man Utd dominate.
