Premier League table without VAR: Where Aston Villa, Wolves, Man Utd & rivals would sit in new-look table

A look at where Aston Villa and Wolves would sit in the Premier League if VAR didn’t exist

The 2024/25 Premier League season is underway and, as to be expected, VAR has already emerged as a hot topic for debate as controversial decisions continue to impact results across the league.

This has been demonstrated by Bournemouth’s late disallowed goal against Newcastle, Declan Rice’s red card against Brighton and Joshua Zirkzee’s disallowed strike for Manchester United against the Seagulls.

Back in June, Wolves, who were on the receiving end of a number of harsh decisions last season, led a vote to try and abolish VAR from the Premier League but were ultimately unsuccessful with the other 19 teams voting in favour of keeping the technology.

But how has VAR impacted the league table in the early weeks of the season and where would Aston Villa and Wolves find themselves if the technology didn’t exist? Here’s how the table would be impacted if goals awarded or ruled out by VAR were not reversed by Stockley Park.
