Premier League table since World Cup sees shifts for Aston Villa, Man Utd, Newcastle and Chelsea - gallery

The Premier League form table since the World Cup has plenty of huge surprises, including in the title race.

The 2022/23 Premier League campaign was like no other as all 20 clubs had to factor in a highly unusual seven-week break into their schedules mid-season.

As key men from up and down the division, as well as all across the globe, jetted off to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup it left behind countless players.

They had to keep up their fitness and take part in friendlies behind closed doors, almost like a mini pre-season, making for a weird fake conclusion.

It meant action had to start earlier and end later than usual, with far more fixture congestion experienced – particularly for the clubs in Europe and at the latter stages of domestic competitions.

What it did offer, though, was a second chance for the sides that struggled in the opening matches and an opportunity for teams with new managers to bed in new tactics.

That worked particularly well for Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers as they experienced huge bounces as a result.

Others, though, struggled with a break in momentum and never quite looked the same, right from the return of the Premier League on Boxing Day until the May 28 finale.

How, then, would the table look if it factored in fixtures after the World Cup only? Flick through the pages for a full run-through.
