The highest-scoring teams in the Premier League are already on course to break a record after a scintillating start to the 2023/24 season.

Manchester City have been their usual clinical selves and top the standings, while Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are all in the top six.

Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa have upset the apple cart once again whereas Newcastle United are back in the top half after thrashing Sheffield United by eight goals to nil.

That particular result has helped push the Premier League to new heights as there have been more goals per game this campaign than in any other in history.

After six match weeks, there has been an average of 3.08 per fixture, well ahead of the season record of 2.85 per game, set during 2022/23.

Brighton (18), Man City (16), Newcastle (16), Liverpool (15), Spurs (15) and Villa (12) are the six sides to perhaps thank the most as they are the only ones with over a dozen goals scored.

Although there are still 32 fixtures to go for each team, the trajectory is seriously impressive and makes for an entertaining campaign up and down the country.
