‘Contentious’ midfield selection as injury forces defensive switch - Aston Villa predicted XI vs Wolves

Predicting Aston Villa’s lineup to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Aston Villa's return from the international break sees a local derby fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Back after a two-week interval, the Villans will be keen to sure things up after some rocky fixtures. It was a dominant 4-0 win over Ajax in the UEFA Europa Conference League but a 1-1 draw at West Ham United, a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and a difficult 3-2 win away at Luton Town made for a chaotic start to March.

By the time Unai Emery's men play host to Gary O'Neil's side on Saturday late afternoon, the result of Tottenham vs Luton will be known. The pressure will be on either way as Villa will either be able to regain their three-point buffer or extend it depending on the outcome in north London.

Wolves will be by no means a pushover opposition, however, with Wanderers a dark horse for European qualification. Currently in ninth place, the Old Gold could leapfrog both Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham with a victory this weekend. A draw would be a strong result, too, given how tough a place Villa Park is to visit.

Emery will show plenty of respect for Saturday's opposition and the Spaniard is likely to field as strong of a lineup as possible. Considering a ban for captain John McGinn and various injury troubles, he's the Villa lineup we predict will take on Wolves.
