Ollie Watkins among favourites to be Premier League top scorer next season - Liverpool and Man City men lead the way

Watkins was Aston Villa’s top scorer last season with just 11 goals.

Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins is among the top 10 favourites to be Premier League top scorer in 2022/23 with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah leading the way.

After bagging 16 goals in all competitions during his first season at Villa Park, many expected even better things from the England striker in this campaign but he only just scraped into double figures with 11 in 36 appearances.

That’s not to take away from his overall performances, though, which in the main were very good.

Steven Gerrard has delivered glowing references about him a number of times since his arrival and has quite adamantly stated that he is ‘not for sale’ amid rumoured interest from West Ham United.

Getting into scoring positions has never been a problem for Watkins and if he was able to finish a couple more chances that come his way - he could quite easily become a 20+ goal a season striker.

Whether he can become the Premier League’s top scorer - well - stranger things have happened!

Here’s how the market is shaping up ahead of the next campaign.
