Norwich City have been handed some positive injury news ahead of saturday’s crunch Premier League game against Aston Villa.

American forward Josh Sarget, who has been absent throughout the month of April with an ankle injury will return to the squad ahead of the trip to Villa Park, giving the Canaries some much needed extra fire power.

Speaking ahead of the defeat to Newcastle United, former Villa boss Dean Smith said:

“Josh Sargent will be okay for Aston Villa next week but not this week.”

That is the sole bit of positivity for the league’s bottom club however whose disappointing campaign on the field has been ravaged with injuries off of it.

Midfielder Lukas Rupp (knee) missed the loss to the Magpies and will be touch and go for Saturday whilst teenage centre-back Andrew Omobamidele (back) and forward Adam Idah (knee) have both been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Anything less than a win for Smith’s men against his boyhood club will almost certainly see his side concede their Premier League status whilst three points for Villa and a victory for Burnley away at Watford will confirm Norwich’s relegation to the Championship.
