Gomez has been reported as a priority for Gerrard ahead of this summer, with the Villa boss having failed to strengthen the position in January.

Atletico Madrid star Luis Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa, with Gerrard reportedly looking to ‘get the band back together’.

Suarez’s contract in the Spanish capital expires this summer, and with his form below its best this season, it has been reported he could leave for nothing.
